What we do
What Is Microblading?
Microblading is a manual, semi-permanent technique of hyper-realistic eyebrow drawing in which hairstrokes are drawn on with a sterile blade to deposit pigment into the surface layer of the dermis. The technique is intended for anyone who wants to achieve realistic and natural looking semi-permanent eyebrows.
Our Microblading Artist Sophie is fully certified under the world renown & prestigious “Phibrows Academy”. The PhiBrows Academy is an intensive 6-month long course covering various skin types, eyebrow shapes, eyebrow hair patterns, hygiene, pigment types & colour matching. Since graduating Sophie has been fine-tuning her craft in NZ & Australia before joining the Gee Beauty family at the start of 2019.
What Can I Expect From My Appointment?
The initial appointment is 3.5hrs and we use the first hour to consult about exactly what you’re wanting from microblading and your aesthetic goals, shape, thickness & colour. I then draw out a brow shape to match your facial features to achieve the most natural and aesthetic look suited to your individual face. When you’re happy with the look, we numb the brows (optional) for 30 mins and the actual microblading process takes roughly 1.5-2 hours.
In our microblading fee we include a perfection session that is booked 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment. At this appointment we touch up any hairstrokes that have faded more than others and if needed add more strokes. It is common for 15% of the hairstrokes to fade more than the rest.
Am I Suitable For Microblading?
Microblading isn’t for everyone so please disclose any medical conditions when enquiring to prevent any disappointment.
Microblading may not suit you if:
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have diabetes
• Taking blood thinning medications
• Have had botox or fillers or chemical peels in the past month
• Have problems with healing of scars/keloid scars
• Allergic to lidocaine
• Using Accutane
If any of these apply, please email us or give us a call to inquire further.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Does it Hurt?
Pain during the treatment is different for each person but it is compared to the feeling of plucking out your own eyebrows. We use numbing cream (if desired) and add anaesthetic during the procedure to keep discomfort at a low. It is normal for the area to be a bit sore & tender for the day of & the following few days.
Can you touch up my already tattooed Brows?
We do not touch up other people’s work until the brows have faded almost completely. When they are light enough to work over, the full price applies.
How long does it last?
There is no set guaranteed time for the longevity of semi-permanent makeup as everybody’s skin is different and takes the pigment differently. There are internal and external factors that contribute to the longevity. Internal being: how oily the skin is, how thick the skin is, how the skin naturally retains the pigment. External being: how much time you spend in the sun, what products you use on the face etc.
However, generally speaking microblading lasts anywhere from 8-18 months.
When will I need to touch them up?
You can come in for your touch up whenever you feel the need to! We offer touch ups 6-12 months, 12-18 months and 18-24 months. If your brows have faded almost fully, we may consider a touch up as a fresh set and the full price may apply.
